I listened on radio, where a comedian weekly talks about the everyday-life in an ironic and sarcastic way, and this time he comments on the series "Sex And The City". I totally agree to that and therefore I wanna and try to translate it here. If you wanna listen to it by your own, you can find it here (RealPlayer, In German!)
"Wischmeyer's Blackbook!
Shoes for 700 dollars, capuccino in paper-cups, single-bars and gallery openings; three times a day new clothes, half of the life to phone away and to meet at any corner fuck-willing men - this is how the popular dream of 'late' girls looks like and it is called 'Sex And The City'!
From 'Cosmopolitan' to 'Woman In Mirror' the German anti-wrinkle-press-media is enthusiastic about Carry Bradshaw as the idol of a new women's generation. - It's a wonderful life, though: Shopping, dating, chatting - again shopping, again dating, fucking, try new shoes and all this in New York! All this slippy being is financed by half-smart calendar-slogans, which are typed nightly into the powerbooklet and which are so much of piggy-trendy, that a newspaper is pleased to finance the Manolo-Blahnik-madness of its author.
Also the other aunts from wonderland don't secure their existence in a very reliable way. Nevermind - 'Sex And The City' is a fairy tale for old girls anyway and not a docu-soap from a big city hell. Here it is no problem to live as a jobless gallery-mouse at the Upper-Eastside or at the age of end-forty to fuck happily through Manhattan as 'Ground Zero' of all thinkable sex-diseases.
As already said, a fairy tale and a funny one, which does not only enjoy the target-group, but also makes men addicted. This series offers such men an endless drug of male excitement: Women say dirty things and they even do them! Thus it also can be forgiven some little penis-jokes - as long as the dogma of permanent agreement to penetration is not touched, real men are not seriously concerned about those jokes. Therefore this series reconciles the men with the emancipated woman and thus also for them a fairy tale. As long as they let them fuck - nobody cares!
The real special kick of 'Sex And The City' just came from the brilliant dialogues full of irony and prompt answering, those ones are actually the biggest lie of this series: Much to intelligent than to be seen as authentic.
