Yesterday I enjoyed the warm golden October sunrays, walked in park and finally read the last story of Ian McEwan's book "First Love - Last Rites".

I began to read it already months ago. But I didn't wanted to finish it, because I liked the stories in it very much. Therefore I waited for the last story very long, and the last one hasn't been as bad as the previous ones at all, too! Now some feeling of sadness is inside me, but I already began another book by Ian McEwan.

The stories in "First Love - Last Rites" are merely about children and teenagers, adolescents. One funnier story about a husband, who is making disappear his wife, who gets on his nerves badly. One sad story about a boy, growing up in a hippie-family and found a nice woman as friend and lost her again tragically. One shattering story about a man, who has abused a little girl (particularly because the author wrote this in a readers-view).

Most stories are about teenagers, who for the first time see the other sex in a different view, with this different feeling in stomach and sex. The stories are often rather drastic but never in a pornography way. For example at first a story about a boy, who abused his younger sister to feel for the first time. But, actually, the stories show the beauty of childhood and how difficult it is, when you feel that you grow up.

In my opinion, childhood is the best and happiest period in a men's life. You don't know anything about the evil in the world, you don't have any fears or concerns about the future, you don't have to care about anything, and first of all you don't know about your own mortality, yet. The only problem is, you just know about this happiness and recognize it, just when it is over already.

Well, I don't know, but I love to read about all this very much, especially when it is written in such excellent and powerful style as Ian McEwan does. He has already become one of my most favourite authors.
