As I was going to the lake yesterday, there were some time to pick some flowers. There were a meadow full of them...

A day-off at the Tour de France and I used it to go swimming.

I usually go swimming in a lake north of Berlin called "Liepnitzsee". I love that lake and to swim there. It is really located very good and romantic and quiet. And the water is clear and refreshing. And you can lay there nude without any problems. The trees are till the lake-shore and there are good places to lay right at the lake in several nice little bays.

So, as I laid there, felt the wind on the skin and listened to the small waves rolling to the shore, birds singing, trees aching, cheering kids from far away - I wanted to stay. I love that.

The water was perfect, although I again needed much time to dare to go in. At the beginning it's always rather cold. But when you are in, then you can only hardly avoid a cheering "yaahoooo". :-)

With some drinking, cookies and sweets, you can spend a lot of a wonderful time there. And I also used the time between the swimming with finally finishing reading one book.

It was again just amazing.

Now I am rather exhausted, -

well, but today was again one of the rare better days of life.

Long waited for, that day has come at last! And that day should result in that it was worth to wait...

Well, what should I write?! - It was just great! Almost everything has been perfect. I almost perfectly went to the Olympic-Stadium. I had to wait for entrance just about 15 minutes. Then running to the stage - and I got into the first circle, almost only three meters away from the b-stage. I thought, this would be almost perfect to watch the giant screen of the stage, to watch the group at the center-stage and to watch them very closely at this b-stage - and I was right.

Well, then the usual long waiting began - from 4 pm to about 9 pm. But there has been two warm-up groups...so the waiting was not as bad as afraid. In the meantime it began to rain a bit, but fortunately not for very long and then not anymore at all. A little problem was only, that I was thirsty. After the end it took rather long till the people could leave the venue and reach the underground. So, I arrived home again just at 1 am.

And what about the concert itself? Actually, I haven't expected very much, because of my memories of my last U2-concert four years ago, which was not so bad but also not what I would call overwhelming. But this one now was overwhelming!

But, as I could see, it also really depends on where you stand and who is around you. This time I stood next to many real U2-fans, who really freaked out, when the intro began. And they continued having a party all concert long. And when I stand next to such fans, then I also have contaged to that euphoric mood. Especially at the beginning I felt the endorphines rushing through my body. It was almost such a feeling of happiness, when a girl sits next to you and rubs her leg against yours... But it last longer, that I smiled some time, not knowing exactly why.

And the show was again really outstanding. It has reminded me of the concerts of the Popmart- and ZooTV-Tour. This is, what a concert makes special. It began with Rock'n Roll songs and also there was time for quieter emotions, songs and speeches. I liked that mixture, I like, when the tension and feeling changes.

So, as you might already have understood - I liked that concert very much!

Update: Here a photo, where I can be really seen! And here a video!

Before I hear again some complaints I have to write more about the movie "War Of The Worlds", which I watched in cinema last Sunday, I better do it right now.

Surprisingly, I think this movie has been not bad, actually really good for an ordinary action-thriller. I liked particularly the beginning of the film, when the noise of all the blasts and thunders rolled through the cinema. The effects in this movie were really remarkable. When the church crushed, the street broke, the running people were terminated into dust, the bridge collapsed. Wow! This has been really breathtaking!

I also liked that scene, when the other people tried to get the car. This has shown, how people become to eachother's enemies in real death-threatening occasions. In my view, it had been even more chaotic and dangerous. I mean, in the States almost everyone has a gun and in this situation would use it.

Also in the scene at the ferry, I think, it had been more trustworthy, if there were more chaos and anarchy. I mean, when people see behind them the certain death, they would be more desperate and more careless to all the other men around them. I think, everyone would try to reach the ferry at any cost with all possible and inhuman means, including the soldiers.

Well, but I have, of course, also some other points to critisize. The story was a bit weak and difficult to understand. I had to explain the end to my parents, who I has watched the movie with. They both haven't understood, why the aliens have died. And I only knew it, because I have accidently watched the first version of that movie from the 50's some weeks before. some things were just not plausible. Why the aliens killed the people at the beginning, if they want their blood? And what was all that blood-gaze for, which the aliens have seeded? Well, I haven't understood it.

What I also didn't liked and have not understood, was the behavior of that boy. Is it really thinkable, that a young boy wants so much to fight, when it is so sure, that he will be killed and that he will not have any chance at all?

What about the actors? Well, Tom Cruise is in my opinion just not such a good cast as a family father. I don't know, but I just don't believe him to be such one. Has he ever before played a father? I think, everybody else could have played this role - it hasn't been a loss. The main role in this movie plays the special effects, anyway.

It was the first movie I watched with Dakota Fanning. Well, I just can say, she is (of course) cute with her big eyes, which can look very desperately, especially when she is filmed from above looking above. And she could scream very much in this movie - and this she can very good, too.

The end I didn't liked all. This was typically Steven Spielberg. Why again a total happy end? Why all had to survive? In the war against almighty extra terrestrians, I think, the son could have been killed.

And one more: I am always wondering, why aliens in movie always have to look like insects or like monkeys or even like Chewbacca!? Why they always have to have eyes, arms, legs and a face?

So, but enough of that stupid questions. It is really a good action thriller. I think, it's the best movie by Steven Spielberg since "Jaws". And that's because he hasn't intended to produce a brilliant, everlasting masterpiece with an annoying political or ethical message. He has made a simply good movie, entertaining and thrilling for two hours. No more, no less!

Since last week I have known what to do at least at afternoons for the next weeks - because the world's biggest cycling race has begun, "Tour De France", and I watch it on TV.

But what to do at evenings? Well, I still have to watch some movies on video...

Actually, I more would like to do anything else, for instance meet with some friend...

So, due to so many's wish, here some more words about the movie "The Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy".

To say it first: all in all it has been rather disappointing.

At the beginning I have been really entertained and the movie was really not so bad. But the longer the movie last, the more I was wondering, which book I really have read and how I could have forgotten so much or how I could have understood it so badly, as I've read it. As it turned out, the story in the movie is really much different than in the book - but definitely not for better. So, I think, it would be better, not to have read the book.

Some effects were good and some gags, too. But at the end, this couldn't help the movie to become a Must-See-Movie. When I watched the trailer to that movie, I really expected some more, something more special, something which could become some kind of cult as "The Lord Of The Rings". But I was wrong.

It's just a normal movie to eat popcorn while watching and to forget it again. Nothing special.

On Sunday I met with my parents in front of the cinema. It was the first time after the fall of the Berlin Wall that my father was again in cinema. We watched "War of the Worlds".

After it we gone to dinner in an Indian restaurant. It was rather disappointing, because I have already eaten much better at another Indian's. Well, I think, my parents felt same, but they are just too polite to say it.

Then we walked a bit through the streets and Mauerpark. I think, my parents just don't feel so good in a big city. I think, they have been glad, when they are again home, particularly my father. - I don't know...

...and all the time I wanted to be somewhere else...

Wow, what a weekend!

Well, it began on Saturday, when I was with another 200 000 people at the Berlin Live8-Concert, which took place between Brandenburg Gate and Siegessaeule.

So, but I was rather disappointed. Not that I haven't seen very much - this I have expected. I could see the stage rather good, when I was standing on tiptoes and I could see a monitor. I was about 500 metres away from the stage. And also not because of the bands, who have played - I knew, that mainly German bands would play, who I don't like very much.

But in the whole first hour, there were only two(!) bands, who have played two or three songs each! And it hasn't become better in the second hour. So, the breaks were just too long. I decided to leave after two hours of waiting and listening rarely to the German groups. The only bands I was just a bit interested in were Green Day and Audioslave. Well, they appeared right after I decided to go.

Well, all in all, the line-up in Berlin was not as good. I am not such a big fan of A-ha, Chris De Burgh or Roxy Music to wait all day, all the hours of happening nothing and to listen ten minutes from time to time some bad German newcomer bands... It was the right decision to go home and watching better bands on TV in other cities.

But what about the reason of these concerts? What about the "good intension"? I have watched the first "Live-Aid-Concert" in 1985 on TV. (This was the first time I have heard of a group called "U2".) But that twenty five years after it, there is a new campaign is necessary to stop hunger and poverty in Africa shows, that this first campaign already has failed - and so will the new campaign fail, too, in my point of view. Already today there is not much spoken about Africa here in Germany anymore.

It will not help the ordinary helpless starving people, when the African governments will be released of their debts. The problem of Africa is not the debts, the problem of Africa is their corrupt politicians and the civil wars. Give money to Africa and it will help the few rich leaders there to become even richer and to buy new weapons for wars...

At the evening I have gone to my parents, who spend the weekend in Berlin. We decided to meet the next day to go to cinema and to dinner.

...well, but all the time I really had more liked to be somewhere else...

Wow, I like this song: "Blue Orchid"!

And I like the new album of The White Stripes very much, which is called "Get Behind Me Satan". I have already very much adored the album before, "Elephant" and also the album "White Blood Cells" hasn't been bad. This is, what I would call good modern rock music.

By the way, The White Stripes will perform a concert in Riga, Latvia on June, 30th in the Dream Factory. Well, if I would be there, I would go there...

So, what will happen tonight? I will watch the football match Germany vs. Brazil, of course. And then a movie...

Yesterday I was walking a little bit again after a long period of time. I was going to a park/forest in Southwest Berlin at a lake/river. There are also some romantic little palaces and castles, built by kings in the 18th/19th century.

It is always just a bit pity, that it takes so long to go there. You need about an hour to go there and yesterday there were so high temperatures in Berlin, that it wasn't a real amusement to go on underground, city-train and on bus towards. Fortunately in the wood it was a bit fresher and cooler. But even walking there was rather exhausting.

And because today it should become even hotter and up to 34° C, I will stay at home all day today.

Today my brother-in-law's family is flying to Italy for two weeks for their holidays. I have to water the plants and flowers on the balcony during that time. But, actually, I am not in the mood to do it. But I will - only every second or third day!

Isn't today my namesday? Could I wish something therefore..? ;-)
