Notes from a Boring Life

Last weekend I have visited my parents again. The last time I have seen them was christmas last year.

Those days are always days of peace, of regular warm meals, of a warm bath and all in all lazy days. Happily my mother hasn't asked me too difficult questions about my future I even cannot answer to myself.

I have happened to find a photo-album with pictures of me. This was really funny to look at. I cannot believe, that this boy was me. Sometimes I think, this has to be a former life of me. There were photos of the last holidays of my whole family in the south of East-Germany in the Mid-80's; photos of my classes in school ("Our vow for peace and socialism" - lol); the last holidays together with my parents at the Baltic Sea; when I travelled with a class-mate to Budapest and Prague; my fist visit to West Germany in Hamburg; holidays with friends at the Polish shore of the Baltic Sea and also our trip to Denmark a few years later...

Ooops, I did it again..." ;-)

Last night I couldn't fall asleep again, and so I watched "The Academy Awards 2004", the "Oscars", live from L.A.

The highlight of that show has been already at the beginning. It was the trailer called "The Return of the Host", which in the this-year's host of the show, Billy Crystal, appeared with his special sense of humor in the nominated movies. For example Billy Crystal as "Legolas"...

And then the long (and boring) "Lord-of-the-Rings-Festival" began. "And the Oscar goes to...The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King"! Eleven times one heard that sentence. It became clear very early that this movie would become the great winner. No real surprises. And even the nominees were often the same films. Boring!

That showed that it is also always a political, a commercial matter, who wins and who wins not. Because no one can say that this part of the Lord-of-the-Rings-Saga is so many Oscars better than the first part "The Fellowship of the Ring". There is no difference in the quality. Either both parts are as good as the third one or the third part is also "just" worth the few Oscars, which the first and the second part got.

The most unpredictable Oscar was then the Oscar for the actor in a leading role. And it was in my opinion also a political decision. I had given the award to Johnny Depp for his acting in "Pirates of the Carribean - The Course of the Black Pearl". This was a very good appearance and it is more difficult to act in a more funny role, in my point of view. But Sean Penn got the Oscar for his role in "Mystic River" and I think, he got it, because it was just time for him to be awarded with it. Because of all his roles, he played before and didn't get an award, although he would have more deserved it ("Dead Man Walking" or Woody Allen's "Sweet and Lowdown"). As I mentioned it already at the Golden Globes. But I cannot say anything to Bill Murray in "Lost in Translation", because I haven't watched that movie.

All in all, an Oscar is not such a big proof of quality. A lot of great directors, actors and movies never have awarded with it.

At half past 6 am, Peter Jackson has thanked the people of New Zealand for the last time and after all that greetings and thanks it was over. And I tried to fall asleep.

"Oh, I don't want to forget here to thank not my manager or my lawyer - I want to thank everyone, who is willing to read my stuff all the time"

Have you closed your diary or why couldn't I post a comment there? Or have you decided to ignore me? I cannot believe that, I don't wanna believe that!!!

Here is, what I tried to post:

"February, 2nd!? This is long, long ago! Don't you think so, that you have to add here anything for all your "fans"? ;-)

I mean, anything had to have been happened, even in Riga! Or not?! So, what about your every-day life now? Isn't it slightly different than it was before you have gone to Amsterdam?

So, you see - questions and questions again...

P.S. By the way, what has happened to your terrible teeth pains?"

Heh, I was cooking yesterday again...And this time I quite complicated meal to prepare. Unfortunately I don't know the Russian or English term of it. In German it is named "Rinderroulade".

I am so proud of it, because it wasn't as easy and nevertheless it was tasty!

"Mmmmhh....!"

So, seems, I will be able to survive and won't starve... ;-)

Last night the Grammy-Award Show live on TV. I watched it till after 5 am, then I slowly fell asleep. But it was over then anyway.

Well, it wasn't as spectacular. No really surprises - maybe the grammy for Evanescence...

I was in the museum, in the newly built extension building of the German Historic Museum.

There was a temporarily exhibition called "Pictures, which are lying". About manipulation of pictures, of news, of facts in the mass media. Pictures of babies in the arms of celebrities in the tabloid press, who haven't been born yet. Lies in the UN-Security-council, which leads to the Gulf-War 1991. Different issues of comics or record-covers. And, of course, the disappearing of persons at photos of Stalin, as Trotzki or Kirow.

So, always be careful before you believe anything!
